Serving adults and adolescents across the United States.

Elevate Psychology provides teletherapy services across the United States. Dr. Carlile is a licensed PSYPACT psychologist, meaning that she may provide excellent, specialized care regardless of your location. Within the U.S., Elevate Psychology is deeply rooted in the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West. Dr. Carlile has spent her life learning, training, and providing mental health services across both regions. She is uniquely familiar with the cultures present in different areas of the Western U.S.

Teletherapy allows you to access effective, focused treatment regardless of where you live.

By using teletherapy (live therapy through a video connection), Elevate Psychology increases access to high quality mental health care, regardless of your distance from clinics, health status, or mobility issues.

For people living in rural locations, it can be very challenging to gain access to psychologists with the specific training you need. Similarly, living in metropolitan areas can create its own barriers, such as traffic, parking, and time limitations. Teletherapy allows Elevate Psychology to work with any adolescent or adult in most U.S. states.

Teletherapy is effective.

Teletherapy works! Research has shown that mental health treatment delivered live through video connection is just as beneficial as therapy delivered in person in an office setting. Clients and psychologists are able to form healthy therapy relationships, clients learn helpful skills, and lasting change is accomplished. In particular, scientific study has demonstrated that teletherapy helps people recover from trauma experiences, depression, anxiety, and some health conditions.

Teletherapy with ease and peace of mind.

Elevate Psychology utilizes an online platform designed specifically for telehealth that is secure and easy to use. During an initial phone consultation with Dr. Carlile, you will schedule your first video appointment and walk through getting connected. A private internet link will be sent to your preferred email address, and you may access your appointment from almost any device — computer, tablet, or phone. Teletherapy with Elevate Psychology is intentionally clear and secure, which enables you to focus on your wellness.

A psychologist with specialized training in teletherapy.

Dr. Carlile completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the delivery of telepsychology and has been treating clients live via video connection for over 10 years. This means she is skilled in the nuances and logistics of teletherapy to make your treatment most effective.

Dr. Carlile has been steadfastly committed to providing the most helpful and beneficial care via teletherapy. With Elevate Psychology, you are in good hands.

 FAQ

What exactly is teletherapy?

Teletherapy is live mental health treatment through an online video connection. With Elevate Psychology you will receive the same face-to-face interaction and care from Dr. Carlile as you would in an office in person. Teletherapy is simply done through a computer, tablet, or phone.

Is therapy a good choice for me?

Therapy is personal. Seeking mental health treatment often takes courage and a willingness to be open. It is an individual choice and there are many reasons why someone would opt to pursue support. You may hope to focus on a long-standing concern, such as chronic depression or anxiety. Or maybe you are seeking help in response to unexpected or upsetting changes in life that are causing challenges in your day. In general, therapy provides a private, collaborative space to explore, process, and learn strategies to improve your well-being.

What is science-based (or evidence-based) therapy?

When assessment and therapy is evidence-based, it means that scientific research has informed your clinical treatment. Said another way, research tells psychologists what causes mental health problems and also what works to treat these problems. Psychologists then apply that scientific information to meet your specific therapy needs. With Elevate Psychology, your treatment is based on proven therapies that work, not just a gut feeling or good conversation.

What may I expect in a teletherapy session?

With Elevate Psychology each therapy session is unique and personalized to help you meet your individual goals. In general, you may expect to discuss specific concerns in your life, such as trauma history, depression, or sleep problems. Sessions usually occur once per week, lasting 50 to 80 minutes depending on the type of therapy. Treatment may be short-term if you are focused on a specific need. On the other hand, therapy could last longer if your aim is to address ongoing personal growth or complex concerns.

Different treatments may encourage different levels of engagement from you. For example, in some therapies, you may be welcomed to participate in between-sessions tasks (homework), such as tracking moods, recording thoughts or behaviors, and practicing relaxation exercises. Science has shown that therapy practice outside of the session helps to create lasting change and growth.

Why work with a clinical psychologist?

Therapy provides an opportunity to gain new perspectives into your life's challenges, to develop insight, and to help create solutions to complex problems. Clinical psychologists have a doctoral degree (meaning 5+ years of graduate school) focused on learning how to effectively treat mental health concerns. Working with a psychologist can enhance personal growth or recovery, promote acceptance, strengthen relationships, improve family dynamics, and ease the struggles of daily life. Some of the benefits of therapy with Dr. Carlile include:

  • Reducing the impact of traumatic or negative past experiences
  • Developing new skills for handling stress and anxiety
  • Enhancing ability to manage depression, anger, and upsetting moods
  • Restoring sleep cycles to be restful and rejuvenating
  • Improving sexual health and wellness
  • Modifying unhealthy behavior and long-standing behavioral patterns
  • Increasing overall self-confidence and well-being
  • Navigating life’s challenges more effectively
  • Improving listening and communication skills
  • Enhancing the overall quality of life

Who can participate in treatment with Elevate Psychology?

You may live almost anywhere in the United States to work with Elevate Psychology. Dr. Carlile is licensed in Washington, but able to see clients in other states as she is a member of PSYPACT, a national compact designed to facilitate the practice of telepsychology across state boundaries. Please see location information for specific details. All services are provided virtually using a secure and confidential online platform. Currently, adults and adolescents (ages 13+) may engage in services.

What is PSYPACT and how does it impact me?

PSYPACT is an interstate compact designed to facilitate the practice of telepsychology across state boundaries. Only licensed psychologists who complete specialized training, apply and are approved may participate. For clients, this just means that you have access to psychologists you normally could not see in your state. Working with a PSYPACT psychologist does not cost extra money, require special insurance, or require any extra steps by the client. It's exactly the same for you as seeing a psychologist in your state!
